Welcome to Cove's Nest!
We’re Mike and Bessie. We started Cove's Nest out of our passion for good food, thoughtful design, and a vibrant lifestyle.
Our journey began eight years ago when we purchased a charming mid-century ranch in Glen Cove, N.Y. We instantly fell in love with the area, which was on the brink of revitalization. With parks, beaches, marinas, and classic restaurants already present—plus the promise of even more to come—it didn’t take long for us to decide to call this place home. Glen Cove boasts a diverse population rich in culture and history.
When we bought our home, we had a vision for how we wanted it to look, but we never anticipated owning a ranch-style fixer-upper that felt like it was frozen in time—the 1970s to be exact. With the finances we had, we made the best of our renovation journey, which continues to this day.
Through our musings, we'll reflect on this journey, share our current lifestyle, and discuss what we love (and don’t love!) about the North Shore of Long Island. Our hope is to inspire you to appreciate where you are and support your local community. Along the way, we’ll share easy recipes and delicious dinner ideas ideal for hosting gatherings. We’ll also provide recipe ideas for quick weeknight meals, as well as our favorite inspirations: food, wine, travel destinations, decoration, and gardening. After all, it’s not just the objects that fill a home; it’s the people you invite, the food you cook, and the memories you create.
