Welcome to Cove's Nest!
We’re Mike and Bessie. We started Coves Nest because of our love for good food, good design, and great living.
Our journey began eight years ago when we purchased a cute mid-century ranch in Glen Cove, N.Y. We immediately fell in love with the area, which was on the cusp of a revitalization. There were already parks, beaches, marinas, and old school restaurants—plus the promise of more to come—that helped us decide to make this place our home. Glen Cove has a diverse population rich in culture and history.
When we purchased our home, we already had a few ideas of what it would look like, but we never expected it to be a ranch style “fixer-upper” that was suspended in time—the 1970s to be exact. We did the best we could with the finances available to us and our renovation journey continues to this day.
Our musings will reflect on our journey, describe how we enjoy the present, what we love (and hate!) about the North Shore of Long Island, and hopefully inspire you to love where you are and support your local community. We’ll also share with you our favorite things that inspire us: food, wine, travel destinations, decoration, and gardening. After all, it’s not just objects that fill a home; it’s the people in it, those you invite to it, the food you cook, and the memories you make.
